Waterfall, Coasts & Rivers!

Day Two,

Went to this tourism attraction, called Batik. Our tour guide, known as Madam Tan or Aunty Eileen, showed us around and explained to us.

Aunty Eileen teaching and giving us informations.

The paintings hung up high on the ceilings, so that the wax could dry faster.

This painting's abit blurr :/
But it's my favourite painting among all! MARINE LIFE! ♥

Beautiful, isn't it? :)
All of them were these beautiful paintings were painted hands on by the locals. Cool pi le!
After a little tour around Batik, we were allowed thirty minutes of shopping time. Everyone bought some gifts and returned back to the Bus, prepared to head off to our next destination, Coasts!

♥-♥-♥-♥-♥-♥-♥-♥-♥-♥-♥-♥-♥-♥-♥-♥-♥-♥

We went to the beach and see how they have built their seawalls to protect their coast. Managed to recall and see for ourselves the different types of sea managements, the different types of landforms like headlands and bays, the different type of waves.

Their sea walls!

Favourite picture.

Here are some pictures of the waves.

There's actually 4 types of waves! Hah! Bet you guys didn't know waves actually have types. They are constructive, destructive, back swash and swash. Its like reading a textbook with very realistic examples. What an awesome experience we've seen!

Saw this water spider crawling around the surface of the beach.

Anyway, these are a few seashells we've collected at the beach. Gorgeous, aren't they? :)

After observing everything, took a whole group shot with our Peicai banner!
Headed back to the bus shortly after to go to another Coast, called the Black Stone. (If I'm not wrong.)

♥-♥-♥-♥-♥-♥-♥-♥-♥-♥-♥-♥-♥-♥-♥-♥-♥-♥

Before we enter the Black Stone Coast, saw this cute little monkey "guarding" the entrance! :D

Noticed those huge rocks laying all around the shore? This happened because of erosion. As the cliff slowly erodes due to acid rain or the soft rocks and hard rocks causing headlands and bays, these rocks then eventually dropped down to the beach.

Getting to learn all these live is indeed cool and awesome! Experiencing it first-hand from sight, one word, marvellous!

So we continued on our little walk with these nicely built bridges. :)

As we walked on, we approached this shelter that allows people to rest, as well as a roof over our heads for the rain or the blazing heat. Pretty cool.

Still walking to the Black Stone Coast! Woah, the journey was quite long eh.

More sights on erosion.

Phew, it was pretty tiring oki. So a few of us stopped and camwhored. :D

Jiazhen and I. :D

Kimberly and I. :)

After around ten minutes more, we finally reached Black Stone Coast! At last!

Isn't it beautiful? Everything, the scenery, the weather. :)

And so, our mission was to find out the height of the cliff. We were asked to find a person that's about 2metres in height and got Mark, who stood at 1.84metres to stand at the foot of the cliff.

Estimated height of cliff : 20 times of mark.
Do the calculations yourself! Hahah. :D

So as I walked along the shore, I noticed these!

There's thousands of billions of these little balls of sand all around the beach! And as I stooped down to observe, I noticed many little mini crabs all around me. They were uber cute, dead serious!

Amazed, I cautiously walked up a few more steps and noticed more of these mini crabs. And I saw many little living creatures scattering into their nests as I passed by! Can you imagine the scenario? Hahah!

Curious at those little balls, I once again squatted down, imitating a statue and minimised my movements as much as I could. Slowly, all the mini crabs popped out of their nests and continued their work. I then realized that they were actually rolling these balls of sand out, to dig their nests for survival, as when the tide comes in, they'll have a safe place to be in.

Dilligent workers eh, like the ants! Anyway, an average crab there is about 1cm in length. I'm serious! No joke!

There. Shows you how small the crab really is.

After we had our fun, it's definately picture time!

Cute right! LOL.

The girls. :D

Not forgetting our one and only group picture! ♥

Informal :D

Walked all the way back, and we're on our way to Rivers and Waterfall now!

♥-♥-♥-♥-♥-♥-♥-♥-♥-♥-♥-♥-♥-♥-♥-♥-♥-♥

So we arrived at the waterfall. First thing that I noticed were, MOZZIES. Gosh. But thankfully, I had no mozzie bites! :D Lucky me.

Oki, while waiting for everyone to settle down, Jiazhen and I camwhored. LOL.

This is Bao Zhu Jie. HAHAH!

With Gilbert's sunglass on. Can you see Jiazhen taking a pink phone in my eyes? :)

In your eyes, fa xian yi zhong dong xi jiao ♥!

Oki, enough craps. We had a discussion on what to do for our bus item, as we'll be visiting the Orphanage on the third day, it's compulsory to come up with an item of performance. As we're seperated into two groups with Bus 1 and Bus 2, Bus 2 went ahead and do their hands on fieldwork while Bus 1(us) discussed.

Well, the discussion didn't turn out that well, as there's a group that objected to our idea, which we will be dancing to the famous 海派甜心's Pink Panther dance that goes, "Dalang, dalang, dalang dalang dalang dalang dalang~ Dalang dalang!", followed by the classic Chicken Dance. LOL.

Anyway, an hour flew just like that and it's Bus 1's turn to get wet, while Bus 2 discussed their item.

We were supposed to measure the length, find the depth, gradient, wetted perimetre and the speed of the river. It’s like an opportunity for us to experience what we were taught from the textbook. A once-in-a-lifetime experience. So here we goooo!

Sidenote : Picture Spam from here onwards!

Madam Yusma was with us, guiding and teaching us, showing us briefly on what to do first.

Touched! Cause Madam Yusma actually got herself wet for us, as she measured everything while we, the lazybums just stared at her. LOL. Thanks, Mdm Yusma! ♥

And after hearing Madam Yusma, we got down to work!

Ivan and Jiazhen so hardworking!

Adella and Yi Teng. :D

Adellaaaaa, our photographer!

While Yi Teng, being the secretary, wrote down the records.

Measuring the width of the river...

Me, measuring the depth of the river while Yi Teng, still recording. :)

Still measuring the depth of the river for every 50cm. Tough work oki!

Everybody was busy! Notice Jiazhen in the background? She's helping by holding firmly to the measuring tape. It was hard work, too! As the curent kept the measuring unstable.

See Gilbert's underwear! :D LOL.

Caught Jiazhen slacking at the most right!

Lol, all of us slacking now. :S

Me picking up stones, as we're required to find 6 stones, from most corroded to least corroded.

And after a hard day of work, everything was done and in place! :D Cheers!

While we still have that bit of time left, we decided to catch small fishes swimming around! A picture we took while hunting for the marine lives.

Anyway, noticed why Adella wasn't in any of these pictures? Cause she's our very own photographer! :D Credits all go to Adella for these photos as without her, this post will be a very very boring and wordy one. So here's thanking Adella! :D

The rocks that we've found!
(Left to right) From least corroded to most correded.
The rounder and smoother it is, the more corroded it is!

Adella was here as we asked a kind aunty to help us snap this shot! :)
Ivan, our group leader holds on to our hunts!

Yuppyupp! Had an enjoyable time doing all these fieldwork. It helped me understand more about rivers, and how to find the velocity and speed of the river. Pretty awesome!

After which, gave the waterfall a visit!

Gorgeous, isn't it? :D
There were many people playing and enjoying themselves as well!

But I was not with my group as they pangseh-ed me!!! :( :( :( So I joined Mark and co. instead! There's this shaky bridge hung right up in the air. Awesome scenary!

The camera couldn't snap Hakim! :(

After this tiring day whereby we visited many places within just one day, we finally headed back to the hotel.

In conclusion, all of us returned back to the hotel smarter! :D

Up next, posting about Day Three, where we visited the Orphanage. Stay tune!

Tata!
