Day One,
Gathered in school and Coached to Malaysia!
This, is our Coach's plate. Coolest Bus plate ever!
So if we got lost, just find for "What The Heck 5678" can already. :D
Went to visit the orang asli settlement by a speed boat. Got the priviledge to see those beautiful sceneries, plants, as well as Gilbert’s long lost family - the "birds" family. (LOL, inside joke!) We learnt the different cultures that they had compared to ours. Their houses were made out of wood and had a roof covering over it, with no bed and fans, let alone an air-con that we, Singaporeans will die without in such a humid country.
Some photos on how their houses looked like,
To add on, they've got to hunt for their meals and used this long, stick thingy made out of bamboo called a blowpipe, to shoot a needle dipped with frog's poison so as to kill animals for food like, birds.
Here's a picture on how they hunt for food! :)
This guy demonstrating his hunting skills to us by trying to hit Bull's Eye.
Furthermore, they also rear animals like roosters and monkeys. The reason they reared roosters and hens are probably for meat and eggs, while monkeys are trained by the Orang aslis to pick coconuts for them.
A domestic monkey chained to a tree.
And of course, it's own little tree house!
In addition to all these, the Orang aslis also depended on the farming of lotus to generate income. We were then brought to see their lotus farms, and understood better one of their source for money.
So here we go! All set off for a little adventure :)
Check out these mini Tsunami!
Passed by many vegetation..
Looks adventurous right! :D
The reason why Jiazhen's always in the picture cause she's sitting in front of us! Like, duh?
The ride was awesome and cooling! Felt the breeze hitting on my face as we sailed serenely down the river.
Ahah! Spotted Peicaians as we moved along.
And saw this long stick smech in the middle of nowhere. I reckon this stick served as an indicator to indicate the water level of the river. Hmm, makes sense right?
Ahhh. finally reached our destination! Entering the lotus plantation...
This is just a small portion of that vast plantation!
As the boat slowly slowed down for us to admire these beautiful plants, we chanced upon a gorgeous lotus in it's full bloom. Lucky us :D
The yellow thingy is it's fruit, I suppose.
Hmm. Are microphones created in the likes of these?
Moreover, the Orang Aslis also depended on tourism to earn the extra income. By visiting these beautiful plants, knowing and learning more on how and what the Orang Aslis' lives are, they are actually earning money! Unlike us, whereby we, Singaporeans have a modern and proper house, a stable income every month and good quality of life, the Orang Aslis are living in the total contrary of us.
See! their roads not so modern eh. The toilets, horrible! Two cubicles smeck in the middle of nowhere with no proper flushing system. But to them, it's already a blessing and priviledge to have toilets and to be able to do your business with privacy, I guess.
Anyway, after the boat came to a rest, we took pictures! :D
Posing for the cam!
Jiazhen!
Kimberly!
Kimberly and I with life jackets on. :)
After which, we headed back to shore...
...and took pictures, again!
The Jia-s!
And a group shot as well. But Adella, Ivan and Gilbert were missing! :/
Bused back to our hotel and had a two nights stay in Kuantan.
That's all for Day One! :D
Stay tune for Day Two, as we crashed @ the famous Waterfall, Rivers and Coasts in just a day!
Tata. :D
